Daily Devotions

Today's Bible reading: John 12-14
Scripture:

John 12:7-8 “Leave her alone’, Jesus replied. ‘It was intended that she should save this perfume for the day of my burial. You will always have the poor among you, but you will not always have me.”

Observation:

Mary poured out an expensive pint of perfume on Jesus’ feet and Judas protested that it was a waste and could have been used for the poor. Jesus replied that her act of worship was timely and correct.

Application:

Giving to Jesus is in its own category of worship!

When I give to the Lord, it is never a waste. At this time of year the worthy causes are endless and even my own ‘legitimate’ personal needs see too great to be satisfied. But I know that I must spend some time with Jesus and pour out, give some precious things to him.

Time, money, possessions dedicated to Jesus are never wasted!

Hello Sonrise!

Blessed Christmas! Joan and I want to express our love and appreciation to each of you for your friendship and we rejoice in all our experiences and memories together. We have a very rich life and are thankful to the Lord for his many blessings. We anticipate a great busy family time over Christmas. Lindsay & Brandon and their four children will join us on Christmas Day for a few days and with seven grandkids in the house a lot its loud. For Christmas dinner we will have 20 folks at the table and another six or so joining us for games and Christmas fun later in the day. What a party!

I know that some of you Christmas has a shadow this year; there have been some family losses and trials that add some grief to the occasion but I know that the Holy Spirit can come alongside to help you.

Sunday this past week was exciting as the children did a great job in their program and we had many guests along to enjoy the service. The first presentation of ‘Homeless for Christmas’ went very smoothly and the choir and actors have a great message to share. Please come and bring family and friends to join in the celebration on Saturday night at 7:00pm. We will do it all in one hour and there are some cookies and cider to enjoy after the musical production.

We will have a Sunday Morning Worship Service on December 25 at 10am. It will feature some carols, a baby dedication for Darren, Angela and Christiane Kennedy and a short message. We will wrap it all up in 55 minutes so you can be on your way. We will also have a service on January 1st to start the New Year off well. We will share in the Lord’s Table and make time for some testimonies and sharing at an open mic. No promises to make it all happen in less than an hour as I sense that it will have some joyous reports and prayer time as we begin a new faith adventure together.

On Saturday December 31 at 7:00pm there will be an evening of games and snacks at the church for anyone and everyone. Please bring your games and some appetizers to share with others. This is intended to be a time of connecting with others, have some fun and not much work for anyone. You are all welcome and bring some friends along.
