Today's Bible reading: Revelation 10-14Scripture:Revelation 10:1 “Then I saw another mighty angel coming down from heaven. He was robed in a cloud, with a rainbow above his head, his face was like the sun, and his legs were like fiery pillars.
Observation:The book of revelation always makes me ‘stand back’ a little as the powerful images and the perplexing mix of heaven and earth is amazing. We are to take to heart the things written here.
Application:At first glance my life, its history and future can seem very ordinary and plain.
But when I invest time in reflection on its meaning; I grow in appreciation of my life, my companions and my destiny.
Then I take a look at the Bible and see the greater things going on in the heavens, and the plan unfolding in God’s will and I begin to worship Him and to focus on living for him in a way that will have great reward in the future.
There is so much I cannot understand or control; but there is a call for me to faithfully read his Word and live for him in every moment of time allotted to me.
Hello Sonrise!
Thanks to everyone who helped with our Sonrise Christmas Eve Service and Christmas Morning Worship time. We had over 300 folks with us on Christmas Eve and a strong 99 for Christmas morning! They were blessed times and had a kingdom impact.
We are about to begin a new calendar year in our Western system. It seems to me to be providential that the arbitrary date chosen for us to celebrate Christ’s birth is immediately followed by the fresh start of a new year. These are both times of personal reflection and have potential for us to make positive change and dedicate our lives and time to Him outside of time. I encourage you not to miss this opportunity.
This Sunday morning (January 1) at Sonrise we will have an open mic for anyone to share from the blessings of 2011 or the hopes for 2012. We will share in the Lord’s Table and take time to pray for one another. I am excited for this time together and trust you will be able to make it. There will be children’s ministry for those ages 2 to grade six. And everyone is invited along on Saturday December 31 at 7:00 pm for an evening of games and snacks at the church. Please bring your games and some appetizers to share with others. This is intended to be a time of connecting with others, have some fun and not much work for anyone. You are all welcome and bring some friends along. I have asked Hayden to team up with me to win the crokinole tournament so you might want to practice up.
As I have been preparing my heart for 2012 the Lord has impressed on my heart and in my vision that this is a year of harvest at Sonrise. In Matthew 9:37-38 we read; ‘Then he said to his disciples, ‘The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.” I am praying that my vision will see what the Lord is doing and I want to be part of that. I am asking that many of you will have also a fresh vision of what the Lord has put in your hand and life to make a difference in the making of disciples and the preaching of the gospel. Will you join me in prayer as we enter a new year of church life and ministry?
Thank you.
Pastor Stan
