Today's Bible reading: Exodus 14-16; Acts 2

Scripture:

Exodus 14:13-14 “Moses answered the people, ‘Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the LORD will bring to you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again. The LORD will fight for you, you need only to be still.

Observation:

Israel found themselves caught between Pharoah’s army and the Red Sea. Their fear caused them to speak against Moses and his plan so he reassured them that the Lord would rescue them. And then he lead them into the Sea.

Application:

‘The Egyptians you see today you will never see again.’ ‘This too will pass’. I can know that the Lord will help me in situations that seem overwhelming. Fear and panic bring paralysis; trust in Him will keep me steady and on track.

Israel’s situation is like many dilemma’s I find myself in. I know that the Lord has brought me to this point, and I am really without ability or resources to deal with the enemy who threatens my peace of mind. So really there is only one choice, to continue to walk with the Lord and trust him! And when I stop to think about my life I know that many things in the past that have seemed overwhelming are now simply history and a testimony of God’s help. ‘This too will pass!’

I love how in vs 15 the Lord tells Moses to quit crying about it and lead the people on through the Red Sea. Sometimes we have to act our way into obedience and the peace will come.

This weekend is the annual MissionsFest at Canada Place. Pick your tickets up this Sunday for Couples Night Out with Phil Calloway and Jay Calder at Sonrise on February 6 at Sonrise. Bring some friends along to this great event!

CLASS 101 “An Introduction to Our Church Family” was postponed last Sunday and will now be offered midweek in February. We will do the class in two parts on Wednesdays, February 1 & 8 at 7:00pm. This will allow some who may find Sundays difficult to get acquainted with the life and ministry of Sonrise. Sign up by email or in the lobby on Sunday.

Andrew & Michelle Masters (former staff at Sonrise) will be coming to visit the Sonrise family for a week in February, bringing daughter Calli to introduce her to us. Night Church on February 19 at 7pm will feature a reception for the Masters family with refreshments. They have booked a rental car from February 15 –22, but if anyone would be able to loan them a vehicle it would help them. Let us know at the office if that is a possibility.
